12/28/04 - The Frozen Tundra

After seeing great ice photos - espcecially abstracts - I decided to give it a try. I think that quite a few more tries are going to be needed. This is a paper thin sheet of ice at the edge of a pond. A few days ago it rained, raised the pond about 4" above its normal level, and then turned bitterly cold. A thin layer of ice formed near the shore and then the pond returned to its normal level leaving this thin shell around the edge. So what, you say - I agree.

It's sure an intriguing image. Quite abstract, and it's a nice pattern in the ice. At first I thought it might be lace draped over a piece of wood.

That's cool Ed. I wondered what this was from the t-nail, and it looks even more intriguing full size. Good abstract!
