One of our traditions on the German Coast of Louisiana is the Christmas bonfire. the custom was brought here from Europe and was done not only to light the dark days of winter but also for warmth. My husband and I usually have our bonfire the same night as our "Light the Lights" party for family and friends with lots of good food and desserts and, of course, libations. The weather cooperated with us and the wind did not blow so hard that we couldn't make the fire.
I don't do too well at night shots, in fact this is probably the first one that has come out halfway decent since I began using a digital camera.
