At Bay Springs Lake in Northeast Mississippi, I had a lone Common Loon come within 100 ft. of where I stood with my scope. The water was very high so there was no beach and I had to stand back up in the trees. This seemed to help calm the loon as he was not too concerned with my presence. He began to give his loon call over and over while keeping a safe but close distance from me. I looked across the lake to see five more loons swimming directly toward me and the loon that was calling. It was almost as if he were saying "Come on over here fellows and see what I've found". After the five joined up with the first they swam back and forth in front of me. This is how I was able to obtain this photo. I am certain they were checking me out!!!
