FILL FLASH

today I was practicing fill flash in a strong late afternoon sun.
Fill flash is a concept that eluded my thorough comprehension until
just a couple of weeks ago. Now I can't get enough of it and I want
to try to master the use of it.

I was asked to take photos of this little girl in the rather grand
dress. The other girl was just a wonderful ham I met along the way
who struck an endless number of poses for me against that steel
wall (it actually is a giant gardening spade in a scupture park). The shadows
are from the blazing sun aimed directly at her and I thought they enhanced the
shot a great deal, no?

Anyway, as always your opinions on these photos is quite welcome.

Oh, and if you see Joshua Meyer around, could you please tell
him to click here

They're all just adorable. Fill flash is something I've always had problems with too but you've nailed it on these.

What cutie pies! Nice job with the fill!

What a great subject. Your fill flash looks good. Sometimes people use too much, but you seem to have it all figured out.

Well whatever fill flash is,,, it sure worked. I'll have to look into "FF". She looks like a doll. Perfect lighting and contrast. It's just,,, perfect! So I'll vote.

All 3 are excellent.

Would you think about putting in a little blurb refreshing this feeble brain about FF? Like when you use it??? And how much flash?? What ever you did here it sure works. She is a doll!

Nice work, Liza. I assume you used the 550EX? Is there actually a setting called "fill flash," or do you have to make a manual adjustment to get the level of flash you need to fill in the shadows? Excellent!

You surely did a wonderful job. Will have to look into fill flash.

Little princesses all! I agree the fill flash adds something; in my case it's just a matter of remembering... (In my short-circuited brain, if the sun is out, why would I want more light?) Very well done.
