December 3 2004:
The Drugs Don’t Work

This is not really about The Verve’s song. That was about recreational drugs making you no better.

This is really about various drugs that my GP prescribed me several months ago for my nervous disorder that had no effect whatsoever. So since that time I’ve had to rely on my inner self, and more recently my therapist, to try and get me back to normal. But that’s not an easy road to tread although I realise it’s the only one. It’s likely to be quite a long journey and some days the road surface is going to be quite rough.

I find that my PaD project has helped me and that is why I’m continuing beyond my year. There are days like today, when I think I could not possibly have submitted an image, but there, I managed it.

Today’s image was taken with some other pills (for something else altogether!) on my light box. I then played in Photoshop.

Photoshop:
Cropped and Resized
Hue and Contrast adjustment
Framed using #FFFFFF

We're all here for you Ray! In the meantime, your posts are always though-provoking. I'm glad that photography seems to be a good therapy for you. I hate all drugs too. I wish you well. Cool that you have a light box!

Trust me. You're doing the right thing. It might be a harder fix to work it through than take a pill but the pills will take over your life and you still have the problems.

Good luck.

You should show this to Barry Bonds!

Ray ... you have such a great eye ... I'm glad you are continuing. And re drugs, yes sometimes the "cure" is worse than the reason for taking them.

I'm glad to read you'll be continuing on.
Hugs, Ray. I think there are many of us on a similar journey to yours.
