The Day Before Thanksgiving

The first snow of the season threatens our Bradford Pear

The TV and radio weathermen were wrong again. Rather than just a dusting to 1 inch of snow, we got 8 inches overnight to set a record snow fall for this date.

Meanwhile, lovely Bradford Pear tress (like ours in the photo)- caught with their late fall leaves still in full Glory - are bending under the stress of the wet, heavy snow on top of their leaves.

So far our Bradford Pear Tree seems to be okay. However, the local news has reported that many other Bradford Pears, across the Metro, aren't as lucky.

The vivid coloring is straight from the camera.

Liz, that is simply awesome. Hope you don't mind my using it for my desktop background for a while.

Beautiful scene, Liz. The bright leaves, white snow, and your composition.

Beautiful shot, appealing composition. Nice work.

A striking composition.
I especially like the way you shot and cropped the image with the tree offset to the right.
The openings along the slats near the middle of the fence also caught my eye.
Don't know why? Interesting, pretty. Very nice photo.

Nice scene, and poor tree. And snow..wow. It's in the 70's here.

Are you sure you didn't run out and spray-paint this?

The camera was set on the default normal settings. However, the lighting this morning was somewhat unusual with a combo of blue skies and grey skies at the same time. I'm guessing that the tree's vivid color "popped" because of the natural lighting.

Just as "close-in" color often seems more intense & vibrant in fog or smoke. In actual post camera processing, I did sharpen the original photo some by using 45% Unsharp Mask in PhotoShop. Nope, no snowmen yet. VBG.

Hello...VIVID Coloring and I must say SHARP/CONTRAST too ! Was the camera's setting for the Sharpness AND Contrast set at (default) NORMAL? Nice contrasting....(Make any snowman yet?) ;-)
