Senator Theatre

Another shot from Downtown Chico
There's so much to remember while out photographing. Number one should
be bring extra CF or film if you go that way. Number two could be remember
where to meter…oh well I think I will be back here. I would have loved to get
more detail of the art deco exterior.

other sizes: small medium original auto

My dad made the neon lights for the senator! He's been blowing glass and making signs for 25 years. :)

Ah, the Senator Theater. I'm glad to see it's still fulfilling its purpose. I can remember seeing some great films there: Cool Hand Luke, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. And I remember going with my date to see the cheesy "The Lost Continent" about 1969 - about a ship trapped in the seaweed in the Saragasso Sea. Now I'm trapped in Los Angeles.

How about photographing the El Rey (where I saw the restored versions of King Kong and Gone with the Wind, and watch - drug free - 2001)?

Oh dear - Great minds think alike Stu!

Love the lights. It looks like a real old fashioned theater. The kind with the big screen. Glad to see some are left.

Maybe daytime for the art deco detail? :)
Cheryl Hawkins23-Nov-2004 09:26
LOL at Stu; yes Floater does have that meaning here, too!
Stu23-Nov-2004 09:15
Wonderful shot, Cheryl. I certainly hope 'floater' doesn't mean the same over there as it does here :-o

I love old theatres but way too many have come down to make way for other non-memorable buildings. You have captured it's appeal beautifully, Cheryl.
