BUSHIDO is the "way of the warrior".
It is definitely not the way to cut a cake. Matt doesn't always take the conventional road but seems to always get the job done.
Tonight we celebrated Matt and Donna's birthdays. They are both great friends and wonderful people.
Many of us seem to be reaching the stage in our lives where birthdays become less welcomed because they remind us of our aging. It could be that it makes us realize our mortality, or it could be simply that we are reminded that we have to work harder to keep our waistlines under control.
I, on the other hand, love to celebrate birthdays (that are not my own). Perhaps if we take that one day as an opportunity to reflect on the positive impact that the "birthday boy" or "birthday girl" has had on each of our lives, it becomes a day of celebration (and a day of thanks) for truly all of us.
I know we should be appreciative of our friends every day, but birthdays allow us to celebrate with food and cake! Besides, if we said "thank you" with food and cake every day, the above mentioned waistline would be a no-win battle.
Anyway, thank you to all friends for enriching my life (and I don't only mean the cake!).
Cheers!
