I pass within 100 feet of The Monument most mornings when I get off the Tube, but I seldom notice it. The Monument was designed by
Sir Christopher Wren and erected between 1671 and 1677 to commemorate the Great Fire of London in 1666. You can climb to the top;
I would imagine the views are wonderful, but I am not sure about the 300 steps!
