This is what I see when I look out my front window. Our house is on Australia's Highway 1, which follows the coast line around most of the country.
Some people questioned our sanity when we bought our house 4 years ago. "Why would you want to live on the highway?". I gotta admit, I questioned my sanity just as I was about to sign the contract. But no regrets at all. I love it! Bored? Go look out the window, there is always something to see! Lonely? Step outside onto the footpath and chat with the people walking by. Noisy? Oh heck yes! The railway line runs opposite the house which adds to the din, but the house is fairly sound proof, and with 4 kids who'd know the difference anyway.
