Judy, my research says 'Sexes look alike, male slightly larger and with larger knob on bill which will swell during breeding.' Maybe you can tell from your original image. I didn't know this before and was just curious. Really like the warm light in your shot.

Gary, I have no idea. My guess would be the female is the one in front. I'm saying that because the bill on that one is a duller color than the other one, but then it could be the light???
