This my absolute favourite of all of Francis' images, who as I have just discovered has sadly passed away. It has a quiet power that easily goes unnoticed among the strong shapes and colours which seem to have embodied his trademark style.
If there is a shot which would be his Requiem, it must be this one. Just look at the symbolically-rich boundary between the two types of water; the man-made calm, and the natural force of the open sea. There is also a beautiful detail in that the reflection has the jumper further away from the structure than in the upper part, creating an illusion of multiple time. The cycle of jumping and returning to the dive-board could represent the death and rebirth in the material world, whilst Francis is now away from all this, in the open sea. My sincere condolences with thanks for the inspiration his images have given us.
