Kiss my sweet soft Scottish arse

3 November 2004 (b)

197B.
Picture the scene, if you can. A man is put in charge with protecting something extremely valuable, and is given all the resources imaginable with which to meet his responsibility. The extremely valuable thing is destroyed, at huge human cost, while this man is in charge - he didn't see it coming, and therefore doesn't believe that it is his fault. Imagine that this same man then lies about the criminals' whereabouts, and then causes immense destruction to be brought down on the heads of undefended people on the basis of a whole series of lies that this man has dreamt up to justify the destruction. Imagine then that the criminals weren't there afterall, and that the weapons they were said to be there weren't there either... Aw. Enough of this bull. I will say what I think, and I don't care what you think of me. The American people had a golden opportunity to get rid of a proven incompetent, barely literate and dishonest warmonger from the most powerful political office in the world. That more than 50% of the American electorate who voted decided to keep him in office says more than we need to know about the majority of Americans. Forget about the world for now. Is America a safer place now than it was five years ago? Do most Americans feel more secure now than they did five years ago? Do most Americans truly believe that Bush has done a good job in the past four years? Do most Americans actually believe that it is a good thing that their government is pissing off its allies, and leaving it isolated? Do most Americans actually know where Afghanistan and Iraq are (for that matter, do they know where the United Kingdom is?). Take note of this: Tony Blair's popularity in Britain is suffering because of his support of Bush - our government might support Bush's war, most of our people don't. I have to ask this final question: were the 51% of Americans who voted for Bush because they believe him to be a 'good commander in chief' dropped on their heads as babies? How on earth they come to that conclusion is beyond me. So, for these people I have this to say - as a friend of America - you can kiss my sweet soft Scottish arse. For Kerry and his cohorts, I have this to say: you lost, give it up, don't drag this pitiful travesty out any further. It's time we move on and plan that revolution...

Nice speech, Stewart. Whose arse is that--Hilary Clinton or Monica?

I had to click 500000000000000000000times on diff click-ables
to get this image just so I could say: Nice Booty!

Hey, once I was in search of purchasing a mannequin and checked the classifieds.
I eventually bought one in OGDEN, UTAH at a thrift store for peanuts but
anyway when searching as I lived in the bowels of NYC I saw an ad
that SAID

NICE BOOTY A PLUS
;-) and then went on to say some stuff about
being all sexy over a booty and wanting to get all sexy and some sexy perv stuff!

I was a kid and not quite HIP to all that PERV. And was not at an age yet to reciprocate the SEXY.
But anyway I wound up finding and buying a mannequin while traveling in Utah and
her name was ICETANIA...stank name ;-) I don't know how I came up
with that stank name? and... I sold her for FOOD money
while living as a slob boho in Chicago, hahaha, that poor girl.
I have photos of her in my hard copy photo album but none posted, aw man she
was a creamy dreamy lovely hallucination of realness fakeness. I dressed her often!

Wooooooooooooooooooooo, awesome BOOTY, ya got here!
And I think i read something about Tony Blair (in passing)... yeah

He deserves booty! But not gorgeous booty like this, he deserves
depraved LEPER diseased nasty booty...

CHEERS!

I just read the NY Times article that jypsee had attached, and it made me think of something else. I truly believe that some lower income folks (who would normally fare better with a Democratic president) try to align themselves with the Republican party, because it has a certain prestige if you will... a certain air of "having arrived". How many people do we know that turned Republican once they reached a certain salary range? In fact, I heard a new term on election day, that was being used by some mucky-mucks ($$$) at my office. One high level person in the office was saying that his "driver" (an immigrant from Latin America) was more of a republican than he was. He went on to refer to him as a "NASCAR Republican". Apparently this is a term used to refer to lower-income ("low class?") Republicans, which says alot about how Republicans really feel about these people.

Jypsee put it very, very well. Yes, these folks in the US were blinded by their concerns about "morals". But what I find interesting is, do their bibles not say anything about Thou Shalt Not Kill (or knowingly sending young, nieve, misguided Americans into war, all to promote one's own agenda? or declaring "war", knowing that innocent Iraqis will also be killed in the process?) What do their precious bibles have to say about THAT? Hypocrites, every one of them.

Religion does not truly care about "saving souls". It's all about promoting certain ideals... it's about keeping people "in line". If you speak out within the group, or question their beliefs, you will be immediately blacklisted. It really irritates me how many sheep there are out there in the world.

Well, I agree with your sentiments completely, and I think your SP is a hoot. How's the job market over there? Shall I pack my bags?
Vinay12-Nov-2004 15:38
Everyone I know is as upset as you. Makes you wonder if the other half is on this planet.
Carmen10-Nov-2004 21:05
Aww, c'mon. Give us a spin!
Oh, man. I'm with Ed and the crew that's already chimed in. It feels like I just woke up in a gutter and found my wallet missing. I felt like leaving the country in 2000 and really the thing that almost bothers me more (though I realize all things are related) than the fact that he was president is the fact that so many people have been taken in by this man. I'm really just stunned at how people can ignore the facts. All I can say is I'm furious and I'm sorry. For all of us.
If you didn't see this already, here's Bush's victory salute: http://politicalhumor.about.com/library/images/blbushflippingbird.htm
(It was taken while he was governor of Texas and is actually a still from a video -- you can see the video there also if you have QuickTime)

It took me a week to get to this one. I must've been hung over, in shock or both after the election. You ask good questions & raise good points. You'd think that someone like me, living in bushland, would have a clue to the answers. However it's as big a mystery to me as it is to you. As to the answer to the eternal question - what do scotsmen wear under their kilts - thanks for the graphic answer (just don't turn around).

I like this image ... very nice colour and soft focus ...
Wish the world political future was as softly focused! :o(

It is so bad I am still in shock ...
Robin Reid04-Nov-2004 15:39
Hear, hear Stewart. Well said! Very cheeky of you to put this image and those thoughts up here.
Karen Leaf04-Nov-2004 01:24
But But But Stewart, what do you say to those who obviously bought the barely half-truths and outright lies that were shoved at them? I haven't been this disturbed my the backsided thoughts that had to have been running thru my fellow citizens minds since the late '60s.
Guest 04-Nov-2004 01:04
Aren't we feeling cheeky! So, uh, how much would a little chunk of Scottich real estate cost me? Or is Portugal the better deal? Ugh. THe whole thing is mind-boggling.
Guest 03-Nov-2004 23:08
you ought to mail this to the White house!
mmmwwaa

Cheryl Hawkins03-Nov-2004 20:16
Yours are the questions I've been asking, mostly myself, for the last few months. I wish I had the answers.
Guest 03-Nov-2004 18:19
I want to move to the UK.....(and not for your scottish ass, mind, but cause THIS place is pathetic! I was NOT one of the poeple who elected Bush. And I'm embarrased to live ina country where a bunch of (made in china) flag wavers elect the true terrorist to another 4 years...
Dave (doon the road) 03-Nov-2004 17:59
Show us yer Bu$H.
jypsee03-Nov-2004 17:51
Bush mobilized the evangelical base that didn't turn out in 2000. That's one reason Democrats lost in the presidency and in the senate (Tom Daschle, for instance). People voted against their own economic interests in order to vote against "unmoral" democrats. And, the more that fundamentalism grows (not just in the US, but Islam and Israel as well) then the more this will be about issues other than economics and environmentalism and more about, religious right-ness. It's still mind boggling to me that the same US that was saying that the Pope might call the shots when John F. Kennedy was running is okay with Bush being guided by his bible. I guess it was which bible was being used.
Here's a quick synopsis via an editorial in today's NYTimes:
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/11/03/opinion/03kris.html?hp
In addition, I recommend "What's the Matter With Kansas?" by Thomas Franks (mentioned in the editorial) and "The Right Nation" by John Micklethwait and Adrian Wooldridge (both work in the US for The Economist)
Kerry is conceding; I feel sick.

Haha , nice one . As for the result , bit of a bummer , eh ? Sorry , couldn't resist .

Bravo Stewart. I have to admit that at this time I am ashamed of our nation and it's majority who chose a monster which will continue to slaughter the innocent. I am not even sure of my loyalties anymore to my own country.
Guest 03-Nov-2004 14:48
When someone thinks there are enemies "out there" to "get him," we call him paranoid. And we then try to get them into therapy or even into an asylum. But here (and I have to admit I'm an American), we re-elect him to the highest office. I agree completely with what you said. The fact that my fellow citizens have re-elected Shrub depresses me to no end. I have a very pessimistic view of the future of our society, and this has only reinforced that pessimism. There's a new world ahead, and it's not going to be a fun one. Rather than winning any kind of battle against terrorism, Shrub's arrogant actions have only increased the atmosphere of violence, an atmosphere that will surely soon gravitate across the globe. And it's so sad. If my ass were as decend looking as your picture, I'd say the same thing. But I'm afraid sticking mine out there to be kissed would also increase the atmosphere of terror. Thanks for saying what you did.

Amen

Ok it’s either not yours or you’re waxing on a regular basis! As for your sweet soft Scottishness, I’ll take your word for it. The politics however, I wholeheartedly agree with yourself and Jude on.
Zak03-Nov-2004 12:50
a cheeky shot!
northstar3703-Nov-2004 12:38
Surprisingly peachy!
jude03-Nov-2004 12:33
Couldn't have said it better myself, Stu.. seriously. I wonder if these people live in the same country as me? see the same world I live in? Four more years of this .. the democrats better get their head out of their asses and fix our candidate issues. I fear for my little town which is slowly falling apart. Higher gas, food prices.. businesses closing (5 in the past year - town of 20,000), no jobs to replace lost ones.
Is that your ass? and if so.. who spanked it ... tis very pink. :D
