avebury - niamh

this was taken about an hour after dawn - I was very limited in the shots I could take because
there were several groups of modern-day druids still worshipping within the circle and I did not
want to get them in shot, or to disturb them.

the construction of the avebury stone circles and surrounding earthworks etc are thought to be between 4000 and 5000 years old.

Not sure about the flat washed out sky but well structured for all that.

No doubt the sort of site where sunrise or sunset are best times of day.

Even more memories. If my memory serves me well there is a special 'sitting stone' in Avebury, supposedly having magical powers....

I like the more open pastoral mood of this picture. It is a refreshing change from many other pictures.
