The construction of ksour is often rather dubious by modern standards as seen in this stairway. Although this ksar has been neglected since it was abandoned in 1973, it is apparent that they were very crudely engineered. The stairs were usually very narrow and had no safety rails - yet people would have used them, probably without hesitation, to access the ghorfas on higher levels.
