Flashy Display by John down under

duck pond, Golden Grove, Adelaide, South Australia

I used the same shutter speed as for my other flapping duck entry to keep the body nice and sharp while showing a little bit of wing movement as this duck lifts itself out of the water with a dramatic display of wing flapping. As the colourful part is on the back of the wing, this angle provides a good view.

The floating duck is a Pacific Black Duck, but I have a feeling the flapping duck is a Hybrid Mallard-Black Duck. Mallards and Pacific Black Ducks mix readily and interbreed. :o)

I uploaded a reprocessed image on 25 Oct with increased contrast. I processed the ducks and water separately.

Hi John! You caught this duck at just the right moment! I like it.

Hi John, I like the mellow light in the reflections in this one. I also like the humour -
despite all the flapping of the first duck, duck no. 2 looks distinctly unimpressed. ;)
