10/23/04 - It's off to see the woolies...

Berryville, VA

Did somebody say "woolies"? This is my faithful (ok, selfish and bitchy) sheep dog (border collie) Airlie and me as we headed to our regular sheep herding (I think the sheep would say harassment) session. What appears to be my dog looking over my shoulder ... is actually my dog looking over my shoulder. But she's not so perky because of sheep anticipation; she has an abnormal interest in cameras (and flashlights) -- she attacks them if she can. It must be some psychotrauma she experienced before I adopted her. Still, I thought it was pretty cute. (I'd not have thought so if she had leapt over my shoulder to get the camera; she didn't.) BTW, if you look just over her head, you'll see part of the mechanism for the right rear seatbelt. The belt itself was eaten by Airlie one day she was watching a soccer game from the car -- she gets excited over soccer, balloons, and volleyball almost as much as sheep.

Airlie is lovely and we call 'woolies' 'wooly dogs with devil eyes'!

Actually, I *was* driving, and the only reason this photo is reasonably well composed is that I had the zoom set wide. I found that trying to really fiddle with the camera doesn't work well when driving at 65mph; I tend to veer left -- quickly. Good think I wasn't also trying to chew gum. (Isn't the expression on the dog's face a hoot?)

I'll have to hope you weren't driving while taking this picture with an attack dog at the ready!

After looking at what she did to the seatbelt I'm really glad you told me not to look directly into her eyes. YIKES! give her a little pat for me but don't tell her I told you to do it, lol.
