Sweat Bee on Wedelia

AGAPOSTEMON TEXANUS

The common name "sweat bee" stems from the habit of approximately 12 species seeking out animal and human sweat. If they are pinched as they lap up the salty fluid they will sting, but their stings are not very painful. The group is a very large one with about 460 species in North America.

At closer view it looks like a bee, but I have not seen those green ones in Europe. They look very similar to our big green shitflies. Can you tell me more about this one.

This is not a bee but a common shitfly. They are everywhere where one can find cows. Nice shot, makes a good contrast on the yellow

Excellent! I am so jealous. I love these little green guys, but didn't have much luck capturing any. Maybe next year. This is great -- super macro.
