Roma 2004

Another intrigue

millenniums

despite the title of the gallery, nothing ephemeral here
1. Aurelianus Walls currently inhabited (2000 years)
2. Medieval civil houses (1000 years)
3. Renaissance garden (500 years)
4. Modern buildings around (150 years)

Enough bizarre spot, for me to be intrigued!

(oh wait, there are 2 transient things: the photographer and the clouds)

other sizes: small medium original auto

Your "modern" (150 years) is our historic! This photo is like an archeaological timeline.

I know this building. I remember it from a weekend in Rome. The Irish embassy is very close by and there's a restaurant on the same street which serves the most amazing lamb chops you'll ever eat in your life. Oh, and the photo's really good, Adal : ) The toning works perfectly.

Adal, this is amazing! I really am intrigued by the juxtaposition of eras, here - the combination of ancient and new - to think that there have been people occupying that space for thousands of years. It's a notion that is not part of my everyday or readily apparent, living in North America.
I love the photo - the B/W works for me. The clouds add an element that makes this 'other worldly'. Beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing.

I think it would have looked better in colour, otherwise very clear.
