Sometimes life gets me down. For example, I'm a firm believer in the "courtesy wave." You know...when someone stops their car to let you turn off a side road onto the busy main thoroughfare, you give a little wave to say thanks. It's such a simple gesture but in my opinion, it is a necessary component of organized society. So, when I let someone in and they pull right in without so much as eye contact, I wonder if this person feels entitled to jump right in front of me. Does he think that he is somehow more important than me and that it is the natural order of the universe for me to yield to his grand presence. Ok, I'll try to not get carried away.
My point is that sometimes I feel that people don't give me the common courtesy that should be the norm. But, today, this was not the case. It was the opposite. A friend gave me these lovely flowers to thank me for what she considered to be kind behavior. This wonderful gesture was a complete surprise because I did not feel that I had done anything deserving of this generous gift. I was just being a friend.
So I guess true, mutual friendship is...not having to say thank you to each other...but always saying thank you anyway.
Thank you...
