102004a.jpg

after debarrelizing

Shot with a 15mm fisheye and then run through
a debarrelizer to correct the distortion so that effectively
this lens can be used as a wide angle lens. It is a nice alternative to
the more expensive traditional wide angle lenses.

Now I realize that my square crop does not really show up the distortion too well.
Below you can see how the image looked before I used the debarrelizer.

I know someone here wanted to see how this worked.
cheers!

Go SOX!

Great photo!! The debarrellizer worked really well. You can also use transform:distort in PS to correct barrelling. But whatever that action is that you used did a perfect job.

That's really interesting. Have never thought about a fish eye before, but knowing that it could be used also as a wide angle..... oh man, I don't need the temptation!

Well....I scratched my head and tried to see what the heck made this not look like a wide angle photo...looked at all the wide angle photos that I've defished and none of them were like this, so I came back and read your caption all the way through. Square crop!! OY... all that confusion I suffered from not reading carefully.

You are really barreling along with this lens. I've never heard of the software, but it cetainly converted it well!

Wow, I really like that fisheye lens. It's kinda like getting two-in-one with that lens. On one hand, the fisheye distortion can be used to good effect in some shots, or where a special effect is desirable, and on the other hand, the distortion cleans up really nicely!

Do you use PS to correct, or is that an after market plug-in? Is the correction automatic, or do you have to manipulate, ala a "tansform" type tool?
