+ Vanishing Point by John down under

from the roof of my house, Adelaide, South Australia

I was doing some work in my garden - more fixing up my paving, grumble, grumble, :o( - when I looked up to notice that the sun was bright red and worthy of capture. I ran for my A1 and ladder, but by the time I got onto the rrof of my house the sun was pretty much gone, as you can see. What I got was the very last remnant of the sun before it sank completely below the horizon. I was a bit disappointed that I hadn't noticed what the sun was doing even 5 minutes earlier and the image looked a bit bland, so I decided to nuke it in Photoshop. Luckily I use RAW as the kind of saturation and curves I mistreated with one with would have crippled an 8 bit JPEG image with severe posterisation. Three cheers for RAW! :o) I wasn't planning on putting a 3rd comp entry into C18, but after processing this one it struck me that the sun going down is on theme, so here it is with only hours to go until the end of the entry period.

I could really use some PS lessons from you! This is amazing and I can't believe the original was so much different! Great job, John!

"nuke it in photoshop"! LOL! The pp is very effective, with the tree silhouettes nice and
dark in the foreground and the graduated sky changing from deep blue to red as the sun falls. I guess your roof slopes less than mine though! ;)

Thanks Tom, but now that I've provided the original for you to see, you'll realise how much help I gave this one by increasing the saturation. ;o) Cheers, John

If that's a view from your place I may have to take that long trip and visit, or move there! Beeeautiful, without the bee (or ant) macro! Well framed.
