08-10-04 crieff hydro

Writing this in a panic, as the Scotland game started 25 minutes ago, and between uploading,
and running back and forth to check the score, I've realised that my replica
Scotland shirt is no-where to be found.

This was the view from my room after I checked into the hotel for the evening.

A long day of conferencing, was rewarded with a night of, well, wine imbibing!
I lost count of the number of bottles of Merlot I went through but let's put it
this way. I had absolutely no problem getting to sleep.

Crieff Hydro was quite a place! It used to be owned by the Church of Scotland,
as a place for the ministers of the kirk's (the scot's word for church) to go on
holiday with their family's. It was only recently that things were changed so
that it was no longer a "dry" hotel (certainly wasn't last night)!
In fact there is a story that anyone late for grace at a meal, was fined!
The hydro bit of the name came from Hydropathic. So in other words it's a type of health spa!

The last time I stayed at the Crieff Hydro it was tee-total! Had to make do with orange juice! Re the game. I think the boys played well - there was no lack of determination - just no luck - and some pretty dubious refereeing.

It's a nice hotel!
