The idea behind super wide angle lenses is that they make things near the camera look larger than items far from the camera. This distortion can be used to subtle effect or pushed into something almost a cartoon. The tongue here was a few inches from the lens while the back of the head was over two feet behind. The distortion makes for a very unreal portrait.
