In 1989 the Buffalo Coast Guard owned the property that this lighthouse stands on (not sure if they still do)and a friend of mine who was with the guard at the time took me on a private tour. We went all the way up the stairs to the top and then crawled thru an opening in the ceiling. This took us up into the very top where the glass lens and windows are. This was during the summertime and inside it was hot and full of bugs, but what a great view of the city and lake! I remember thinking how neat it was to be inside a lighthouse that was at the time over 155 years old. A true Buffalo landmark.
