Quorn # 1

Tom Hammond has been involved with Quorn Tool & Cutter Grinders for several years, having built a beautiful one himself, and editing a newsletter for a while. All narration through "Quorn 14" will be that of Tom Hammond. Tom has graciously allowed us to post his email address if you have any questions. Carl ----- Here's Tom:

Side view of the "Aluminum Quorn" I built for Gary Martin from his castings. This was a one-off to provide a light-weight demo version he could more easily take to shows, and neither of us would recommend this choice of material for a working machine. Note the use of split cotters rather than split castings: much tidier and actually easier to machine. The normal workhead, which takes 3C collets, is mounted. All the bars are from "Feathershaft" (MSC) which is aluminum with a heavy anodized surface.
