Mark and his family took Martha and me on a one-day trip to see a rugged and rocky
corner of a neighboring county, Oman. These photos must not be assumed to be
representative of the whole country, just a tiny part and just at one season,
the hotter, drier summer. The area through which we travelled is very sparsely
populated, but after rain, the people bring their goats up into these mountains.
Small houses, built with stones, may be used during that time. The zig-zag road
we followed up into the mountains is seen in the center of this picture.
