OK Jeanne – you should get this without too much trouble – it’s a classic!
I won’t do one tomorrow – other things planned – but will do some more next week.
For anyone just surfing in – this is the fourth in a mini-series of depictions of Elvis Costello songs in celebration of Jeanne’s birthday.
I’ve seen Elvis play many, many times over the years. One of the most memorable was in around 1980 or so when he played at a venue in Aylesbury. It was a brilliant gig and I had a fantastic time but the thing I remember about it was getting in the car to discover that the UK had won the Eurovision Song Contest with that classic ‘Making your mind up’ by that seminal band, Bucks Fizz. It was, of course, one of the most irritatingly catchy songs of all time and it was strangely likeable – maybe it was that that made me a Eurovision nutcase? Who knows! Whatever, I’ve loved it for many years now.
Have you got it yet Jeanne?
Need any clues…….
OK - clue - it's a very early single and was the anthem of a million broken hearted young men all over the world!
Yep - you got there - it's Alison - one of those brilliant angst-ridden songs that when he does it live, the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end......wonderful stuff.
OK - here's the funny bit - this is completely faked.....DM wasn't there - it's a pair of his jeans, gaffer-taped to the kitchen worksurface and made to look like legs by putting a couple of empty wine bottles in the bottom and shoes under them.....sad but true!
