Going back to the images I shot last week in Wales, I have started going through my Portmeirion shots and uploading them into a dedicated gallery, 'Portmeirion Village'. This is a shot of the Pantheon, which is currently in use as an art gallery.
My gallery will be added to frequently over the next few days, as I work my way through the pictures. Once all the images are uploaded, I will add some details about the individual buildings and a potted history.
For those who haven't come across Portmeirion before, it is a private resort located in North Wales, the buildings are mostly in use as hotels and holiday cottages. It was built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925-1976. The architecture is usually described as Italianate, with some of the buildings designed by Williams-Ellis and some rescued from other locations. It is open to day visitors although some areas are only accessible to guests, all my pictures are taken from public access locations.
Until I get around to filling out the history of the place and the buildings, please bear in mind the comment of the founder:
"Portmeirion is intended to speak for itself."
-- Clough Williams-Ellis
I always appreciate comments on my work, so any messages left will be welcome. Thanks.
