The colours in this scanned photo are disappointing. The original picture was taken as a 35mm slide with Fujichrome Velvia film, which produces insanely beautiful, saturated colours. In fact, I think my Photo 1 instructor commented about the vibrance of the colours in these slides even though the lighting was flat and front-on. I tried to reproduce the saturation of the scanned photo by manipulating the colours in Photoshop. However, both approaches I tried (increasing colour saturation and using a "velvia/provia" macro action) made the subjects' skin too dark. In the original photo, the grass and the sky are beautifully saturated, but the two subjects are reasonably tanned.
