We arrived at this little Silesian gem in Western Poland
after an exhausting day driving 10 hours in humid 95
degree heat. I planed it as a surprise for Joan.
Since Joan was expecting another two hours of driving
on to Krakow it was a very welcome surprise.
It was a very romantic evening.
The Hunting Manor in Promnice, near Tychy, is one of
the most precious masterpieces of the Silesian artistic
culture of the nineteenth century. It is Situated in
the old quiet Pszczyna forest on the bank of the
Paprocanskie Lake.
Built for Jan Henryk XI calling himself Herzog von Plessin 1861 the shooting lodge was completed, in the English Neo-Gothic style with noticeable German traces.
