A D30 RAW file to 16 bit as shot (Contrast - Low / Sharpness - Normal / Saturation -Normal). I started off in color, adjusting the Levels for contrast. The sky wasn't as dark as I wanted it so I opened up another original image, set it to 8bit and used to magic wand to create a selection for the sky. Once I the selection was set and saved and I went back to the 16bit version, loaded the selection and ran Levels on the sky till I got it where I wanted it. I then went to Curves to edit the colors of the whole image. The Channel Mixer came next to turn it into a grayscale image (Red +42 / Green +85 / Blue -23 / Constant -15). I actually sharpened it a bit at this point still in 16bit mode. I converted to 8bit to stamp out a few problems with the cars paint and decided the contrast and tonality was where I wanted it. I adjusted the levels a small amount in the midtones and highlights at the very end.
