During the teardown, the piston deck height was measured at a plus 0.0065in. That would put the stock deck height in the good squish range.

I specified a final deck height of plus 0.012in. I wanted tight squish in this engine.

Once the mains were align honed for true, the rods fully resized and rebushed, and the dimensions and lengths verified; it was determined that the block deck needed some material to be removed to achieve the plus 12. This is what a surfaced deck looks like.
