Thanks for the information, I saw the flower hiking in the mountains and having never seen it before, took a couple of pictures. Fortunately, poison ivy doesn't bother me, because I now know I was walking among it! Thanks again, Doug

It's very pleasing to the eye, that's for sure. Didn't know about it'd assistance in helping soothe poison Ivy. But then I am one who (it seems) isn't effected by the ivy. :)

Impatiens capensis. The jewel weed grows indeed in places where poison Ivy grows as well and it helps to attenuate poisoning or better said acid irritation of the skin by the poison Ivy plants ( Rhus radicans ) as well as other kind of nettles.
The flowers are nice to see here the orange flowered Impatiens capensis. They also exist with yellow flowers, Impatiens pallida.

We call that jewel weed around here. It is the best cure for poison ivy there is. And it always grows where poison ivy grows.
