Hmm interesting association with Bob Dylan, Pete. Yes I am overjoyed when I get a long comment from Phil and all my pictures that get those are extra precious to me. I usually reply comments by private message, because most people don't come back twice to the same picture.

you got some very good and interesting advice from Phil, Anna . . and he doesn't leave comments arbitrarily. You can feel quite honored that he took the time =]

Your soft natural light here is indeed reminiscent of Vermeer -- but I think it's the costume and expression that completes the "Old Master" reference. But watch those edges and hands, Anna -- had you backed up just a bit, that left hand might have added much expression instead of winding up as a distracting stump. This calls for using a technique called "edge-scanning:" as you shoot. Always study the edges of frame as well as concentrating on what is inside of the frame. The edge of the picture is the decisive line between in and out. Make sure that whatever should be in is left in, and whatever you want to leave out is left out. I know how difficult it is to do "everything" at once -- how can we capture just the right expression on a face if we are busily studying the edge of the frame? But we must learn to do "everything at once" if we are to become complete photographers. Good luck,
