This is a tree in the Vondelpark. As the ground water is not far from the surface in Amsterdam, the trees don't have enough ground to root. So it happens that after a storm a tree is blown down. A lot of trees in the park slant...
How unusual and beautiful! I find it interesting, that your water table is so shallow. Our trees, have a completely diffrent problem sometimes with the same outcome. our water table about 300' so our trees are shallow rooted!, and they sometimes blow over during a bad storm.

Very fascinating tree!
When we lived on Long Island in New York we had a particularly bad hurricane and lost 12 trees to the wind! We were without electricity for 7 days!
