OK to all you curious ppl did some research here is what YKK means.
YKK was founded in Japan as a zipper manufacturing company in 1934 by Tadao (pronounced in English as Tah-dah-o) Yoshida. In the early years, Mr. Yoshida's company carried his name; it was called Yoshida Kogyo Kabushikikaisha--or "YKK" for short. (That long Japanese name translates roughly into English as "Yoshida Company Limited.") Over the years, the letters "YKK" were stamped onto the zippers' pull tabs, and thus YKK became known as the Company's trademark. Today, the name of the brand is also the name of the company: YKK Corporation.

Linda is right. YKK is the name brand of the zip but I've never bothered to delve if it stands for anything! :) Both of us did something on jeans for PAD today. You did the zip, I did the buttons!http://www.pbase.com/image/31873497
sorry to disappoint you but YKK is the brand name of the zip! They make metal and nylon zips for industry as well as for the domestic hobby sewing market. (What a bore I am). Nice photo Ian!
