Nikon D70

Taken this July 4th in Durango, Colorado! It was quite the display for such a small town :)

I added an example of the photo before maniuplation with Photoshop in the Originals Gallery, if you're interested.

Hi Kimberly,

Spectacular! the range of colors is just great and the building and the people give it a strong context. Great entry!

Kimberly,

Superb composition on this one. Really makes it for me. I'm impressed.

Fireworks - not the easiest thing to capture well but you have done so with a total scene to compliment them.
As for the meeting the theme ~ fireworks can be nothing but 'impulse of energy'. Very nice.

Terrific shot. I'd make sure your town officials get a peak at it. Saw Durango has a website, maybe they could use this. It'd make a great poster too.

Kimberly, great shot that works very well for this theme. My only suggestion would be to crop the right a bit to frame the building and fireworks a bit tighter. I'm not sure whether you need the guy in the white shirt or not, but I suspect it would not hurt the photo if you lost him to allow your fireworks to end up closer to the upper right of the frame. Cheers, John

The 2+ bursts lighting up the building and the people tie it all together for the feeling of energy and excitement. Nice. - Jean

Great color and perfect exposure. Really a nice shot. So clean too--make me yearn for that dslr.

The energy flows in the fireworks. But also in the crowd in the forground. It kinda plays back and forth.
