Your guess is almost right.

The image is scanned from an old, half-frame negative - low-res and over exposed. I liked the scene and the blocky, Lowery-like figures and decided to keep it.

The highlights were blown, including skaters' shadows and the sky. I made a new sky using a simple masked ‘gradient’. The rest is untouched.

Nice, really captures the hustle and bustle of the rink. The city backdrop almost looks photoshopped in, what with the dusk afterglow and clear sky casting no shadows.

Cropped as suggested guys.

Great shot, I agree with blu, crop the bottom a little.

I agree with blu about cropping the bottom. I think it would give you the feeling of being right there amongst the skaters. It's a great shot anyway.

great shot - I'd just crop the bottom a bit.
