Gayle, this is great. The tilt really works wonders here! This is one of the few times a trick angle alone is enough to carry the image. Whithout the tilt, this image would be a blah! - Jing He

It's not mud, it's rocks formed by ancient lava flow. And I clean everything after a trip to the beach.

Is that mud by the ocean? Also, it looks like maybe there was a spot of something on the lens. The rock about 1/4 of the way up from the bottom in the middle looks like it's obscured by something. Did you have to clean your lens after this trip? -- Victor

I really liked this shot. Very unusual look at something that would otherwise be a very normal photograph. I also love the lack of color.... but the intensity of what is there. Congratulations.

I keep coming back to this, it just blows me away. The tilt, in this case, is an integral part of the composition; it makes the mind (or, at least, my mind) imagine the curve of the horizon, as if the "earth" here was actually a small moon or planetoid. Great job. Oh, and you have a very nice continent down there, I have to visit some day. :)

I keep turning my head here, trying to imagine what it would have looked like shot traditionally... The foreground and sky detail is excellent! --Olaf

The title suggests that this is a view from a spaceship shuttle, coming in for landing. Great shot!

Lovely Gayle! I like how you turned those slicing lines and the rocks, to the vertical. I think it helps anchor the shot, so there's tension, but one can still hold on. Good job! ~ Lonnit

Excellent shot Gayle, feels like I am falling off the Earth. Great perspective, clarity, colours, the sky, all in all, an amazing photograph..... Vikas.
