Founder's Toe
by Dee

Renee Davis is the owner of the toe. She is the founder of e-pics. E-pics held a contest for best photo of the year. Richard Rehkemper and his wife donated the Japanese Glass Float as the prize. So together here is the prize and the founder's toe. This was taken in Renee's backyard where she had a thick glass coffee table. The clouds were reflecting on the surface a texture I found interesting. I call this my *science fiction* book cover -- but, alas, I'm not a writer...

Dee forgot to mention...she won the prize for photo of the year on e-pics! I've been so busy running e-pics and being a grandmother, I don't seem to have much time to do anything else. I miss being involved on STF as much as I used to be...I've been trying to creep slowly back into things now that my grandson is in pre-school! Thanks Dee and also Bev, for the nice things you've said about me! I'm blushing (and wishing I'd gotten a pedicure before using my foot as a *model* for Dee's photo, LOL! Cheers all! ~Nee :)

Really interesting and unusual, Dee...I like the shapes & colors, the transparencies, and the abstract nature of this shot. I also like the clarity of the ball, "balanced" on the tip of the big toe like that...a neat illusion. MFC

Love this photo, Dee. I've enjoyed the many pictures in which RR has included these glass balls, and it's great to see one in this context. Also, Nee was the first person to welcome me to the Challenges. Nice story to go along with the "foot". Bev

Very clever Dee, I was wondering how this was done. The reflections of the clouds and soft pastel colors give the image a soft floaty feeling. Linda L

dee, i really like the central composition here. this image has lovely soft colors, and the reflection is an added bonus, to me. finally, i like how the foot appears to be balancing the glass ball -- very very cool! there are many nuances here that keep me interested, and that, to me, is one of the marks of a fine photograph. -- andy
