Surprising Singapore

This is a scene that you may not expect when you think of Singapore. The photo was taken at Ubin island, off the north coast of "mainland" Singapore.

Ubin is in a sense the opposite of Sentosa. While Sentosa is an island of entertainment, Ubin is a good place to explore nature and ideal for trekking (on foot or by bike). To me personally, Ubin has a typical feel of a Malaysian village. Around the pier, there are plenty of shops which rent out mountain bikes.

I do agree with you. It's hard to believe that the picture has been taken in Singapore. What a contrast with "The promenade and Clark Quay". It seems that the life on this island is not easy.
