I think the bright spots are where the strands of the bolt are traveling toward or away from the camera. Remeber, it's a 3 dimensional phenomenon. Those spots are brighter due to the additive nature of light.

Cool shot. I like it. I know what the white spots are. You see, that's a HUGE bugwhacker zapping those pesky mosquitos. LOL

Thanks - I looked at one of the other shots, one with a larger bolt, and sometimes as the bolt changes direction, it gets a wee bit bigger - thats my GUESS on the spots. I'm bummed - I was so excited to share this - I saved the cut down file over the original instead of as a copy ... Oh well, it's Indiana .. I'll make myself a new foil helmet and try again.
