Vic Cooke

I attended another major racing event this weekend, this time in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
The meet was the NHRA National Hot Rod Reunion, the largest "nostalgia drag racing" event in the East.
I used both the C-2100uz and E-100RS in taking some 750 photos, but this action scene
taken with the "Ezi" stood out as a colorful and dramatic choice for my POTW.
This fuel dragster is going through the usual pre-race "burnout" procedure to clean and heat his tires.
The background tire smoke is from his competition for this round in the opposite lane.

You are good at this... not just the vehicle and smoke adding to the feel of the scene, but that twisting photographer.

You guessed it, Chuck. Both of these meets were nostalgia racing events. If you attend the big NHRA race at Bandimere, don't be surprised if you see a few front engined dragsters in Comp Eliminator. This is where there is some crossover between both venues.

Another great racing shot. I'm pretty close to Bandimere, and hope to get some
good racing shots once little-league baseball season is over.

I noticed that the dragsters in your POTW shots this week and last week were front-engine. Were they both nostalgia events, or are some crazy drivers really trying to bring back the front-engine dragsters?

I tried this type of shooting awhile back.... it is so much harder to do than it appears!
This is an awesome shot.
