Dinosaur Egg Beach *

Porth Nanven, Cornwall, UK

This beach is locally known as Dinosaur Egg Beach.
Many visitors assume that these weirdly shaped boulders are the work of the sea, but they are the product of glacial activity. Stand on the beach and look back towards the cliff, and you will see a wall of them waiting to break away and join those on the beach.
The boulders range in size from Hen's eggs to boulders 1-2 metres across. They are legally protected by The National Trust, which owns the beach.
The long exposure used here was acheived through the use of ND filters.

Actually, since Phil posted his thoughts, I have replaced the image with one more 'sensitively' post-propcessed.
I'm not sure about the orientation - we can't see the horizon - but the sea does rise a bit as it breaks over the stones.

I don't agree with Phil. I like all three of yours very much - including this one - but the horizon seems a bit tilted? That said, "Cornish Secret" is still number one - that one is truly amazing! --Olaf

This... however, looks over-saturated to me, and somehow lacks the beauty of your other 2 images. I think the previous 2 set such a high standard that this one doesn't manage to reach. Phil
