Come into my Parlour.... by Matt Shuter

This fella was in a bird hide at the reservoir we visited at the weekend.
The shot was taken on my way out the door with the on board flash and I was amazed how well it came out.
Levels adjusted and saturation tweaked in Photoshop.

g'day matt - great capture! - as to sharpness, i can see the hairs on the spiders legs - WOW - i'm not qualified to say this - but perhaps some fine pp work may enhance the image contrast? - but thats all technically i would say.. the colours are great, and the spiderweb is v.clear in forground - nice one. thanks.

Hi Guys,
I take the point about sharpness. As I said in the caption, this was a really lucky shot as I just noticed the spider as we were leaving the building. I just fired off one shot and hoped for the best as I came out. The flash has given the wood in the ceiling a nice deep colour which makes for a great background. I did consider cropping in closer but felt I would lose too much of the web which gives the shot both structure and texture.
Cheers, Matt.

Matt, I like the idea and the shot. Maybe needs to be tighter.

Matt,
I like macro shots as this one and the color of the background makes it really dramatic but I miss sharpness in this pic.
