I felt ten feet tall this morning.
This is my first ever lightning shot. I've been longing to try and capture a lightning strike ever since I got my camera in February, so when the fireworks started last night I was ready.
This was taken at f3.5 for 1/30 sec., ISO 100, manual focus set to 'infinity'. I used the 'Burst 3' mode which captures 3 shots in rapid (?) succession. Very minor airbrushing to remove the most obvious water droplets on the lens.
If anyone has advice about taking pictures of lightning I'd love to hear it. This shot turned out to be a lucky one because for all the snapping I did I got less than ten even halfway decent pictures...or maybe luck is worth as much as anything. The other shots were a bit muddier looking because it had started raining; this was taken before the rain actually started.
