Sir Walter Raleigh was imprisoned in the Tower for about 13 years (and his family lived there with him), during which time he wrote a history of the world which was not entirely flattering toward the monarchy. They actually had a suite of rooms--this is his study, outfitted with furnishings from that time period. He was ultimately executed.
