The Grumman TBM, when converted as shown, made an excellent aerial photo platform. With the rear gun turret removed and the canopy extended, the aircraft was a very stable platform to shoot from. The photographers could easily shoot out of either side if the occasion called for it. A pilot and two photographers made up the usual photo flight crew.
