Bev, a really wonderful shot and a delightful take on the topic. I am particulary taken by the overall fluid composition while dealing with a macro subject. Very nice. -Michael Puff

Bev: I love the composition and the way it fits the theme. Simply would not have crossed my mind. You have a wonderful touch with Mother Nature's offerings to us. John

Well, Bev, I ended up posting my version of a spruce bud -- hope you don't mind :-). After seeing yours and deciding not to return to shoot it, I on impulse went back this morning just to see if I could do something different. There was only one left, LOL, at the very top of the tree so not much choice! (FWIW I like yours better :-)) Helen

Thank you, everyone, for your comments.

Bill, I don't know why the exif is stripped, but suspect it has something to do with creating a jpeg or with my image editor (PSP).
I hate to admit that I don't usually save my original image, but I did still have this one with the data intact. Hand held, distance 15mm, f-stop 3.5 at 1/125 sec., ISO-100.

Nice Vivid Shot!. I like the "in your face" composition of it. How come exif info is stripped from it? I was curious on the f-stop used. Bill B

crisp and sharp, beautiful colors and composition. your image really brings the spruce to life close-up, like looking through a magnifying glass. bockshufler

Bev, the light was too low at the time I was admiring the buds, and I was planning to go back in the morning. Then I saw your image, which is excellent, and saw no need to post another of the same. I still might go back and take a pic since these are so interesting (and I love the feel of them :-)) Helen

Bev, really nice color & clarity...effective DOF and perfect exposure. Good catch of the transparent, natural "husks" here. I never noticed this covering before...your shot really "opens my eyes". Nice photo. MFC

I couldn't believe it when I saw this. I was out last night looking at this exact same thing in our garden but there wasn't enough light so figured I'd come back later. These buds are so amazing (and they are quite interesting to the touch as well). Anyway, nicely captured. (Guess I better find something else :-)) Helen
